Herman
Herman Banks, Ed.M.
Herman Banks, also known as Harvard Blue (https://www.instagram.com/harvardblue/) is a 20 year veteran public school educator who believes in “making smart cool.” An expert at creating community in classrooms and other public settings, he believes that group care, honesty, accountability, humility and respect for others can become a reality for all.
After graduating Vice President of his class from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS), Herman continued developing his leadership skills as the captain of the men’s basketball team at Morehouse College, then went on to coach young people both on and off the court. He further honed these skills in a concentrated vision to make a difference in his community. Through his studies at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and the Center for Peaceable Schools and Communities, Herman became an early adopter of Restorative Justice Practices. Today he uses both Circles and meditation in the classroom to help his students feel centered and connected. Herman believes that we are all born with the necessary gifts to live lives of purpose and it is his life's work to help people realize the acres of diamonds that reside inside of them.
When he is not working with young people, Herman enjoys being a father and husband, coaching, and creating hip hop music.
